Notifications in the App
This article explains how notifications work in the Intellect App and how users can check that notifications are enabled on iOS and Android devices.
What are App notifications?
App notifications are alerts sent to a user’s device.
They help users know when there is something that may need their attention in the app.
Notification types includewhen a user is:
-
-
- Tagged in a comment
- Assigned an action
- Assigned a task / schedule
- Someone completed an action created by user
- Someone commented on a report submitted by the user
- Status change on a report created by the user
-
Notifications are useful because users do not need to keep the App open at all times to be made aware of relevant updates.
Why notifications may not appear
Notifications depend on the user’s device settings.
For notifications to work correctly:
-
- the user must be signed in to the App
- the device must allow notifications from the Intellect App
- the App may need permission to show alerts, sounds, or badges
- the device must not be blocking notifications through Focus, Do Not Disturb, or similar settings
- the device should have internet connection when receiving the notification
If a user is not receiving notifications, check device settings.
Turning on notifications on iOS
On an iPhone or iPad, notifications are controlled from the device Settings.
To check notification settings for Intellect:
-
- Open the device Settings app.
- Go to Apps.
- Select the Intellect / Zaptic App.
- Open Notifications.
- Turn on Allow Notifications.
Once notifications are allowed, users can also choose how they want notifications to appear.
This may include options such as Lock Screen, Notification Centre, banners, sounds, and badges.
If notifications are enabled but still not appearing, check whether the device is using Focus, Do Not Disturb, Sleep mode, or another notification filter.
These settings can silence or delay notifications even when notifications are allowed for the App.
Where required, add Intellect to the list of allowed apps for the relevant Focus mode.
Turning on notifications on Android
On Android devices, notification settings may vary slightly depending on the device manufacturer and Android version.
To check notification settings for Intellect:
-
- Open the device Settings app.
- Go to Notifications.
- Open App notifications.
- Find and select the Intellect App.
- Turn notifications on.
Some Android devices allow notification categories. If categories are shown, check that the relevant notification categories are also enabled.
If notifications are enabled but still not appearing, check whether the device is using Do Not Disturb, battery saver, or background app restrictions.
Some Android devices may delay notifications if battery optimisation prevents the App from running in the background.
Shared devices
Notifications can be more complicated when devices are shared between users or shifts.
If a shared device remains signed in as the previous user, notifications may continue to relate to that account.
For example, if a Team Leader signs in during one shift and does not log out, the next user may see notifications intended for the Team Leader.
To avoid this, shared devices should have the automatic log out setting active.
