Content Loop

Video released on 30/08/2024

Introducing - A new way to configure repetitive workflows:

Some workflows were time consuming to configure in the past, and this lead us to develop a new element type that can be used when creating tasks.

This is something called a Content Loop. Using the content loop you will be able to repeat the same set of questions for each item in a list, such as for each piece of equipment.

In short - this feature offers the opportunity to build repetitive workflows drastically faster, also making the workflow easier to manage for the Super Users.

You give Zaptic a list of items, and this feature will circle against each of the items whilst displaying specific steps from your workflow.

Examples of use cases we’ve seen the content loop applied: Centerlines (CL) and Changeover.

Data Management Preparation

  • Data Management will be used to store our CL steps, this being the base of the content loop and what it circles through.
  • To start, we need to prepare the data behind our content loop, and more specifically the list of units/steps we will loop against.
  • When creating your Loop Unit List, pay attention to it’s parentage links as these can be used later in workflow building to filter your content loop.
  • The list of units can be created manually (one by one) or by using the bulk upload template.
  • Each unit on the list can contain further details and data attributes as per your use case needs.
  • By default, the CL steps will be displayed in alphabetical order. If you need your loop to go through the list in a specific order, you can do so in the loop settings page when configuring your flow.

Adding the Content Loop:

    • Create a new Task workflow in your chosen Procedure folder. The workflow subject could be one of your Loop Unit List’s parent, but you can also create a non-subjected workflow.

    • In the workflow, press on the + button to open the list of elements and select the Content Loop.
    • Insert a title for your content loop (This will be displayed in the App when completing the workflow).

Content Loop Settings:

** When selecting the content loop, the settings pane will appear on the right side of your screen.

    • First you will need to select the Loop Unit List you created for the loop to circle through.
    • This selection will open below a list of filters for your loop, represented by the Loop Unit List’s Parents.

    • If your list has multiple parent units, and one of the units is also your workflow subject, you can select that filter to be predefined on task execution by the operator.
    • If your filters are left empty, the loop will circle through all units in your Loop Unit List.

If your Loop Steps have multiple Parent units (therefore multiple filters available), you can leave the operator to select the filters when starting a flow.

This feature will enable having 1 flow for all purposes, where the operators can choose the units they are filling the report for.

This feature is especially helpful in CIL, Centerlines and Changeover flows, but extending to any flow which uses the content loop.

Ordering your Content Loop:

If you would like the Loop Steps to be displayed in a specific order, set the loop following these steps:

STEP 1:
Create an extra column in the Steps list in Data Management which would dictate the order of display. This column should take into account the number of items in the list, if greater than 10, please apply leading 0's for example A001, A002 -> A010, A020.

STEP 2:

Set the Content Loop order in the Loop Settings to be ordered based on Attribute:

Loop Element Content:

    • Back on your Loop Element, if you click on the Go to Section link, it will open the Loop Element Content.

    • Here is where you can build the workflow steps the content loop will display whilst circling through the units from your Loop Unit List.
    • The new workflow will inherit the subject of your Content Loop.

Don’t forget to preview your work and save your changes!

The Content Loop vs Data Management:

    • Here you can see how the data attributes from your Loop Unit List correlate with the loop steps and details in the Zaptic App.
    • You can call data attributes in the content loop by using the # symbol.
    • In other words - the correct data attribute will be called and displayed depending on the Loop Step you are on.

Content loop filtering based on parent units

This feature aims to reduce time spent setting up Centerline and clean, inspect &lubricate (CIL) flows by allowing the task executor to choose the report subject that is used to filter the content loop.

The Content Loop parent filters also offer flexibility in terms of flow configuration, so you can expand the use of 1 flow whilst still having the Steps underneath dynamically updating based on the operator selection.

In the example of a Centerline flow, instead of having 1 flow per Machine, the SME can configure 1 main flow, and allow the operator to select the machine as part of the task.

Content Loop filtering based on Integration data:

A new feature which will allow the loop to filter based on a integrated data attribute. i.e. the Integrations team will be able to create an integration that will update a specific Data Attribute of the machine within Zaptic to always display if the value measured on the machine is In range or Out of range.

This will be useful in the sense that if we filter the units being looped over to only the ones that are registered as “Out of range", whenever an operator is executing a Centerline, they don't need to go through every measurement of every machine, only the ones that need their attention.
